The President Invites Families of Attacked National Guard Soldiers to the White House
President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.
He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Background on the Devastating Incident
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Gatherings across the state have been held in their honor.
Presidential Invitation
The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a White House visit for the families of both members of the state National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president addressed the press. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”
Public Response
Mourners assembled over the weekend at a local school in the state to remember Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to aid policing efforts in the capital.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the type of pupil that teachers desired. She carried herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the press. “She was caring, compassionate and always ready to support those in need.”
Memorial plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Legal Actions and Government Revisions
Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and charges of violent assault while armed.
The incident led the administration to pause asylum processing and cease issuing entry permits to possessors of travel documents.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit Wolfe’s family.
Memory of the Fallen Soldier
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with excellence, according to the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had bravery,” he told the audience at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
