Soccer Analyst Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions
The Gunners' ten-match winning run was ended by the Black Cats prior to the global break, but can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this weekend?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."
The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, readers and a range of special visitors.
In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
Murs' latest record, the new release, is out on Friday.
Soccer and Parenting Experiences
Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a player.
"{I actually played in a charity match the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or son decides to play instead."
Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I will not push football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their Saturday soccer side," he added.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a while too.
"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to be patient for their star's return from fitness issues but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Delap both back fit.
I still think this fixture will be fairly close, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
This smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
Olly's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.
The Hammers' sole on the road victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's manager.
So, what exactly do I predict here - will it be West Ham continuing their run under Nuno, or the home side responding?
I will go with the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
Olly's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2
AI's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign began, but they have impressed a several observers under their manager and are in good form with three in their last four games.
A family member advised me to get Brentford forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
Thiago will probably score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.
They have not had much success on the travel this season, and Brighton are always strong at home. Brentford will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's side pose much more of a danger.
The analyst's forecast: 2-1
The singer's prediction: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually proves to be rather tight. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six matches.
They have got plenty of talent in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.
As for the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.
The away side's display in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed anyone else rough up the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing would be to back the visitors here, because they are obviously able of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.
However I am not choose that. Rather, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they evidently enjoy to prove me wrong.
Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the sole side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be extremely desperate for a good result, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.
The expert's forecast: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a bad streak... but Fulham have still been respectable at home this season. 2-0
AI's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard one to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
