Salah Extends Regret to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones

The Liverpool midfielder has shared that the Egyptian forward said sorry to the team in the wake of the uproar from his public comments.

The Fallout

He was omitted from a European match after criticising the club and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had broken down.

“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I'm sorry.’”

The manager has refused to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the veteran striker.

Looking Ahead

The player stated that the team's response was unchanged. “He was his usual self, he was smiling and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.

He also implied that a player's desire to start is a positive trait. “I get that there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s more of an issue.”

On-Field Response

Liverpool's form have remained strong in the period after the initial controversy. The player is convinced the forward's comments were not designed to destabilise the squad.

“If passion has boiled over, it has consistently come from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “It's behind us and we’re building chemistry, getting results and on a positive run.”
