Iran Claims Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
